YOU CAN HELP

I've decided to run the New York Marathon on the 5th of November 2017 to raise money for

The marathon is a long run of 42, 195 km.

If you can support me in any distance and contribute to the fight against homelessness:

1 km = 5 EUR

5 EUR = 21.49 PLN

25 PLN = the cost of 1 day care

St. Albert Shelter is a non-profit organization whose core mission is to create pathways out of poverty by ending homelessness.

The Shelter for Homeless Women is open 24h a day and provide emergency accommodation (around 72 places) and support in a safe environment that enables homeless women and their children to achieve control and regain independence.

The many faces of homelessness

The homelessness is almost timeless phenomenon, it occurs both in poor and unsustainable countries as well as in rich and highly developed.

The causes of homelessness are many, including defective social, economic and political relations, armed conflicts and natural disasters.

In our busy lives we cannot possibly hear every individual story  - we also have our own personal reservations about approaching a homeless person to learn more about who they are and to attempt to unravel the complex web of painful events that brought them on the street.

The stories of women who are staying at the St. Albert Shelter are very different, they are themselves very particular, having different backgrounds, age and martial status - the only common thing which bonds them together is lack of home.

The hardest thing is to lift yourself when you hit a rock bottom. For a woman to get out of the situation she faces she needs a range of support services, not just helping finding affordable housing. These includes access to counseling (e.g. therapy); health care, assistance to navigate government bureaucracy, legal help.
